Kepa: €80m Chelsea fee no pressure

Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga insists his world record €80m move from Athletic Club Bilbao ‘does not concern’ him.

Linking up with his Spain international teammates for the first time since his August move – which saw him replace Thibaut Courtois – Kepa insisted he has settled in quickly at Stamford Bridge.

“The price has nothing to do with me, it is only because of the market,” Kepa told an interview with Diario AS.

“Transfer fees are going up and up and will continue to do so, and for that reason I do not worry about any fee or expectation with that, it is normal.

“Life at Chelsea has started very well, it is always better when you are winning matches and also for me to have kept a few clean sheets.

“It is a good club for me to join because there are many Spaniards before me who have succeeded here and enjoyed success, and many are still here.

“This is a club who have won everything there is to win in recent years – the Premier League, the Champions League, the Europa League and the FA Cup.

“I accept that any transfer is a gamble but I believe this is an important step in my career.”
