Lopetegui ‘confidence’ in 3 goalkeepers

Real Madrid Coach Julen Lopetegui insists he has ‘great confidence’ in all three of his first-team goalkeepers with none preferred to the others.

Keylor Navas has been the early holder of the shirt despite the summer arrival of Thibaut Courtois from Chelsea, while Kiko Casilla has remained at the Bernabeu too.

“I have great confidence in all three goalkeepers,” Lopetegui told reporters, as cited by Marca.

“The problem I have is that only one can play in each game but that does not mean the two who are not on the pitch do not have my trust, and they know that.

“It is a situation I am employed to manage and delegate, to choose one of three great options, but we must continually evaluate the situation.”

The report also cites quotes from Navas, who said that Lopetegui had ‘shown full confidence’ in him and a recent talk between the two was ‘important’.
