Fulham in late swoop for Atleti striker

Premier League new boys Fulham have reached an agreement to take Atletico Madrid striker Luciano Vietto on a season-long loan.

The Argentine joined Atleti from Villarreal in June 2015 for a reported €6m, signing a contract until 2021, but ultimately failed to settle with Los Rojiblancos and spent subsequent loan spells with both Sevilla and Valencia.

Vietto played a total of 38 games for Diego Simeone’s team – 25 in La Liga, seven in the Champions League and six in the Copa del Rey – and will be looking to reignite his career at Craven Cottage next term.

According to Marca, the London club have agreed an option to buy the 23-year-old on a permanent basis if they are happy with him at the end of next season.
