Barcelona midfielder Riqui Puig expects to return to the club’s B team next season despite catching the eye in the pre-season tour of the United States.
The 18-year-old starred against Milan this weekend, leading to opposition Coach Gennaro Gattuso calling him ‘spectacular’ while Daniele Massaro stated he could be ‘the new Iniesta’.
“Sometimes it's best to leave that stuff to one side and focus on the day-to-day,” Puig told reporters, as cited by ESPN FC.
“I'm really happy, but now it's time to return to Barca B, which is my team.
“It's been a new experience, something which I've wanted to do since I was a kid, and he [Valverde] has given me that chance. If he calls me up again, I will be ready, but my job is with the B team.”
Puig only made his debut for Barca’s B team in February having progressed through La Masia’s youth system, but has been training in the first-team squad for four months.
