Valencia stick to Rodrigo €120m clause

Valencia Coach Marcelino Garcia Toral has insisted any club who wishes to sign striker Rodrigo Moreno must pay his €120m release clause.

The Spain international has been strongly linked with a move away from the Mestalla this summer due to being in high-demand, with Real Madrid among the clubs interested.

The 27-year-old netted 16 goals in 31 La Liga starts at the Mestalla last season and has been included in Spain’s 23-man squad for the World Cup this summer.

“There is a release clause for Rodrigo and any club who wishes to sign him must pay it,” Marcelino explained, in quotes carried by Marca.

“If a club pays his clause and the players wants to go, then there is not anything we can do about it but we will stay loyal to the contract.”

The former Benfica striker, who started his career at the Bernabeu and had a spell at Bolton Wanderers, was the second highest Spanish scorer in La Liga this season, behind Celta Vigo’s Iago Aspas.
