Chelsea join Willian Jose race?

Chelsea have reportedly joined the race to sign €65m-rated Real Sociedad striker Willian Jose.

According to Marca, Chelsea have contacted Willian Jose’s agent over the possibility of a transfer.

Indeed, Nick Arcuri told the newspaper: “To all those who have approached me, I refer them to Real Sociedad.

“If the clubs reach an agreement and Willian is interested, we’ll study [the offer] with affection.

“He has four years left on his contract, he’s happy and very calm, but if we reach numbers that are good for the club and player, we’ll see.”

The newspaper notes the Blues could re-invest the money from Eden Hazard’s potential sale to Real Madrid, which would be for ‘no less than €120m’, on the Brazilian.

However, the transfer market in England shuts on August 9 and the Londoners are said to be facing competition from Borussia Dortmund and Valencia.

Newcastle United and Fulham were both previously in for the 26-year-old, but Marca claims the player is not interested in joining either club.

Willian Jose moved to La Real from Las Palmas in the summer of 2016 after a spell at Real Madrid and has gone on to score 34 goals in 74 appearances at Anoeta.
