Williams ‘comfortable’ with Bilbao role

Athletic Bilbao striker Inaki Williams says he is more than comfortable with his old role out wide under new boss Eduardo Berizzo.

Williams alternated between the right wing and centre-forward under former Coach Jose Angel Ziganda last season.

Nonetheless, the 26-year-old has been playing on the right and left flanks in the pre-season friendlies and feels both positions suit him, while he is hoping the change can help him overcome the total of 11 goals he scored in all competitions last term.

“I’ve had the opportunity to play in several positions in the friendlies and I’ve been comfortable in all of them,” Williams told a Press conference.

“The boss asks for lots of mobility up front, he doesn’t want static people, so he gives me advice and how to lose my marker and when to pick my moments.

“I’m a young player and I think I can improve on everything. There are certain things I need to polish, such as my passing game, as I have many shortcomings.

“I play in attacking positions and therefore I am asked to score goals. I’m the first person who wants to get on the scoresheet and I’ll try to score more than I did last year, provide more assists, and be a better player by the end of the season.”
