Wague gets set for Barca move

Moussa Wague is set to join Barcelona with the Senegalese youngster due to have a medical at the club on Friday.

Mundo Deportivo reports that the Blaugrana are closing in on the Eupen right-back, who made 40 appearances in the Belgian First Division A last term after signing from Qatar’s Aspire Academy the previous season.

The 19-year-old also played a leading role for his country in this summer’s World Cup in Russia, netting in the 2-2 group stage draw with Japan and becoming the youngest African goalscorer in finals’ history.

It is understood that Wague will begin his career with the Catalans as a member of the Barcelona B side, although first-team boss Ernesto Valverde wants to push Sergi Roberto into a central midfield role and see Wague challenging Nelson Semedo for the right-back spot in his starting line-up.
