Leganes and Malaga have announced a deal that will see Uruguayan striker Michael Santos play on loan at Butarque next season.
The Madrid outfit have taken advantage of a clause in Santos’s contract with the Costa del Sol club that states he could join a top-flight team if they were prepared to pay his salary in full.
Malaga boss Juan Ramon Muniz wanted to keep the 25-year-old at La Rosaleda, but the player’s wish to play in the Primera meant he could do little to prevent his departure on a season-long loan.
Santos spent last term on loan at Sporting Gijon, scoring 17 goals from 36 appearances, having signed for Malaga two years ago from River Plate Montevideo for €4.5m.
