PSG rule out Cavani to Madrid

Paris Saint-Germain boss Thomas Tuchel has ruled out the possibility of striker Edinson Cavani leaving the club this summer.

A report in Diario AS last week said the Uruguayan striker was open to the possibility of joining Real Madrid, who see him as a replacement for Juventus-bound Cristiano Ronaldo.

The 31-year-old netted 40 goals in 48 appearances last season for the Parisians and impressed for his nation at this summer’s World Cup.

“This is my feeling and my biggest wish and I have not heard such a thing,” Tuchel told reporters when asked if the striker would stay at the club.

“I spoke with Edinson some days ago and he did not mention anything. He told me he was looking forward to coming back and that he wants to achieve all his goals with us and our team.

“He is a key player for us and there is no idea here of selling Edinson.”

The striker moved to the French capital from Napoli in a €65m deal and usually forms a three-pronged attack alongside Neymar and Kylian Mbappe.
