La Real ask for Madrid defender

Real Sociedad are understood to have made enquiries about the availability of Real Madrid left-back Theo Hernandez.

Diaro Vasco reports that the player is open to a loan move away from the Santiago Bernabeu, having signed a six-year deal 12 months ago after he was snapped up from the academy of cross-city rivals Atletico Madrid.

Marseille-born Hernandez, who spent the 2016-17 campaign on loan at Alaves, made just 13 appearances for Los Blancos last term and did not get the opportunities he expected.

Therefore, La Real are prepared to take the 20-year-old on a season-long loan, although his €5m-per-year wages may be a problem for the Basques, who would likely want Madrid to cover at least part of his salary.

The European champions are keen to keep hold of Hernandez, who they believe still has room for much improvement and would return to the Spanish capital having gained some much-needed top-flight experience.
