Real Madrid consider Edinson Cavani move

Real Madrid are considering an approach for Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani, according to a report in Diario AS.

The Uruguayan striker is said to be open to the possibility of joining the European champions, who see him as a replacement for Juventus-bound Cristiano Ronaldo.

The 31-year-old netted 40 goals in 48 appearances last season for the Parisians and impressed for his nation at this summer’s World Cup.

Madrid officials ‘are discussing the possibility’ of a move while they believe PSG owner Nasser Al Khelaifi would not rule out a sale.

Such a deal would be one explanation for Los Blancos releasing statements that they had not made any approach for either Neymar or Kylian Mbappe, both teammates of Cavani’s.

The striker moved to the French capital from Napoli in a €65m deal while any move to the Bernabeu would cost in the region of €100m – the value which saw Ronaldo move to Turin.
