Everton meet Barca for Lucas Digne

Representatives of Everton have travelled to Barcelona to ‘close the signing’ of full-back Lucas Digne, according to Diario Sport.

The report states the Blaugrana would not be willing to sell the 25-year-old for less than €16m but there is optimism a deal can be struck.

The French full-back’s contract at the Camp Nou runs through to 2021 and contains a €100m release clause but Spanish reports suggest a sale could be sanctioned for a fraction of that price.

Digne has played second fiddle to Jordi Alba in his time at the Blaugrana but has always produced reliable performances when called upon.

The former Paris Saint-Germain and Roma defender has made 47 first-team appearances across two seasons at Barca but only started eight league games last term.

Juventus and Bayern Munich had also been linked to the Frenchman earlier this year, with a summer departure from the club appearing increasingly likely.

Earlier this week, Everton boss Marco Silva admitted the club wanted to sign Digne.
