Everton’s Silva confirms Lucas Digne interest

Everton boss Marco Silva has confirmed he wants to land Barcelona defender Lucas Digne this summer: “it is a possibility”.

The French full-back’s contract at the Camp Nou runs through to 2021 and contains a €100m release clause but Spanish reports suggest a sale could be sanctioned for a fraction of that price.

“At the moment we have two possibilities, I will not deny it,” Silva told Portuguese channel Sport TV, as cited by El Mundo Deportivo.

“They were are two options for us – Richarlison is an excellent player and Digne is not at the club he is at (Barcelona) by luck.

“This will not be easy, but we will try.”

Digne has played second fiddle to Jordi Alba in his time at the Blaugrana but has always produced reliable performances when called upon.

The former Paris Saint-Germain and Roma defender has made 47 first-team appearances across two seasons at Barca but only started eight league games last term.

Juventus and Bayern Munich had also been linked to the Frenchman earlier this year, with a summer departure from the club appearing increasingly likely.
