Lorca FC on the brink

Lorca FC have forfeited their place in Segunda B next season and appear likely to go out of business due to financial discrepancies.

The Murcia-based club were only formed in 2003 and the city has a history of its representative team going into administration across various guises.

Lorca finished second-from-bottom in Spain’s second tier last season but they have not forfeited their place in the third tier and will be replaced by Yeclano.

Chairman Xu Genbao has reportedly put the club up for sale with player wages reportedly not being paid for several months.

It is anticipated their squad will now all become free agents, including former Real Betis midfielder Didier Digard and Sweden international defender Markus Holgersson.
