Marseille ‘confident’ on Duje Caleta-Car

Marseille boss Rudi Garcia is ‘confident’ of securing the signing of Red Bull Salzburg defender Duje Caleta-Car, a reported target for Sevilla.

Marca say the Andalusian club thought they had a €15m sown up but they cite a report in L’Equipe that Marseille have trumped the bid with a €20m move.

The 21-year-old has already played 130 games for Salzburg and was called up to Croatia’s World Cup squad.

El Mundo Deportivo reported earlier this month that the central defender has been prioritised by Los Rojiblancos to replace Clement Lenglet, who has now signed for Barcelona.

“I am confident he will arrive on Thursday,” Garcia told L’Equipe, as cited by ABC de Sevilla.

Sevilla have already completed the signings of midfielders Ibrahim Amadou and Roque Mesa, while also signing Czech goalkeeper Tomas Vaclik.
