Madrid council to abolish Vicente Calderon

Madrid’s City Council have confirmed plans to abolish and urbanise Atletico Madrid’s Vicente Calderon stadium.

Cadena Cope report the total cost of the project will stand at €42.2m and will last a total of two years and ten months,

The area alongside the Manzanares River will become populated with houses and green spaces in what is promised to be a ‘modern living space’.

The Vicente Calderon was home to Los Rojiblancos for 51 seasons from 1966 to 2017 before the club’s move to the Wanda Metropolitano last season.
