Sevilla fans to boycott Barca Supercopa

Sevilla’s Biris Norte ultras and their main fan grouping Federacion de Penas Sevillistas San Fernando will boycott this summer’s Spanish Supercopa.

Los Rojiblancos are facing Barcelona but the Spanish FA took the unusual step of announcing the match would be played over just one match, rather than the traditional two games.

The match will take place in the Moroccan city of Tangier while the game has been shortened due to Barca taking part in the International Champions Cup in the United States.

“The decision was made late, it was communicated poorly and was driven to help the economic situation of one of the teams,” read a Biris Norte statement.

“One club has prioritised a friendly in San Francisco over a competitive match and the decision has helped them alone.”

The Catalan giants face Roma on 4 August, one day before the first leg of the Supercopa was due to take place.
