Thibaut Courtois set for €35m Madrid move

Real Madrid have ‘accelerated’ talks for Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois and a €35m deal could be agreed this week, according to reports.

The Belgian international goalkeeper – who won the World Cup Golden Gloves award – is out of contract at Stamford Bridge next summer and is said to want a move to the Bernabeu.

Madrid have held a long-standing interest in bolstering their goalkeeping department as Keylor Navas has held the number one jersey.

Marca say a deal is ‘very close’ while a multitude of outlets including RMC Sport and Sky Sports also say that a move will be processed imminently.

Courtois has two children living in Madrid following his spell with Atletico Madrid between 2011 and 2014, while he has constantly been linked with a move to the European champions.

“After the World Cup, in around eight or nine days, I’ll decide what’s best for me, I’ll talk later,” Courtois told Onda Cero ahead of Belgium’s semi-final with France a week ago.

Marca believe a deal for the shot-stopper could be concluded this week.
