Madrid reject Man City on Kovacic

Manchester City have been priced out of a move for Real Madrid midfielder Mateo Kovacic, according to reports.

The Croatian international joined Los Blancos in the summer of 2015 and has won three Champions League titles among nine trophies since.

A report in Sky Sports stated the English champions had turned to the 24-year-old after missing out on Napoli midfielder Jorginho, who has since joined Chelsea.

However, Madrid responded that the midfielder was priced at €80m which killed the potential of any move.

The Croat has started only 37 La Liga games across three seasons and started only 10 in his most recent campaign.

Kovacic joined the European champions from Inter in 2015 in a €35m deal, having originally cost the Milanese giants €11m from Dinamo Zagreb.
