James Rodriguez staying at Bayern

James Rodriguez will not return to Real Madrid from Bayern Munich this summer despite reports in the Spanish press, say ESPN FC.

A report in Marca last week stated the Colombian star was keen to return to the European champion due to the exit of Zinedine Zidane, with whom he had a fractured relationship.

The former Porto and Monaco star joined the German champions last summer in a two-year loan agreement worth €10m, with Bayern also possessing a €35m option to buy at the end of that spell.

However, ESPN say that the player’s representative agency Gestifute – run by Jorge Mendes – have ruled out the star leaving the Bavarians this summer.

The 27-year-old completed a successful first season in Bavaria, netting eight times in 40 appearances including a goal against Los Blancos in the Champions League semi-final.
