Martinez: Right time for Hazard to move

Belgium boss Roberto Martinez believes now is ‘the right time’ for Eden Hazard to leave Chelsea and seek a transfer elsewhere.

The 27-year-old enjoyed a fantastic World Cup with his nation and reports have continually linked him with a move to Real Madrid.

Belgian publication HLN report the West London club value their playmaker at a staggering €225m – which would break the current world record held by Neymar.

“I believe now is maybe the right time for him to move,” Martinez told El Larguero on Cadena Ser radio.

“With Belgium he displayed maturity and leadership to add to his outstanding talent, I believe he can play for any side.

“There is not one team in the world he would not fit in and that means he will be the subject of offers from elsewhere.

“I am sure Chelsea have received a lot of interest in Eden because he is one of the select group of players whose talent is based on individual play.”

Hazard is a known admirer of former Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane, while his father claimed he was pursuing a move to the European champions, with his Chelsea contract set to expire in 2020.

“After six wonderful years at Chelsea, it might be time to try something new,” he said after Belgium’s World Cup third-place playoff against England on Saturday, which his country won 2-0.

“After this World Cup, I can decide whether I want to stay or leave, but Chelsea will make the final decision, if they let me go.

“You already know my favourite destination. I’ve been linked with every club. It’ll be Bayern Munich next week…

“It makes me laugh. You already know my preference.”
