La Liga friendlies: Andalusians in action

Real Betis and Huesca got their preseasons under way with victories on Saturday, while Sevilla were held by Bournemouth.

Huesca began preparations for their first-ever season in La Liga against fourth-tier Atletico Monzon, and the gulf in class was evident during Leo Franco’s first game as he saw his new team cruise to a 5-0 win.

Jorge Miramom, Lluis Sastre, Alex Gallar, Dani Arnedillo and former Livingston veteran Juanjo Camacho were all on target for the Primera new boys.

Sevilla were next up, with €15m signing Ibrahim Amadou making his debut in defence, but they could only draw 1-1 with Bournemouth.

Pablo Machin named a strong XI with several regulars, including Sergio Rico, Joaquin Correa and Wissam Ben Yedder, and it was down to the latter to fire his team in front from a Nolito assist.

However, the Premier League side pulled level through ex-Liverpool winger Jordon Ibe midway through the second half against a much-changed Sevilla.

Finally, an 82nd-minute from skilful attacker Ryad Boudebouz handed Betis a 1-0 victory over Aitor Karanka’s Nottingham Forest.
