Atletico Madrid goalkeeper Axel Werner has completed a season-long loan move to newly promoted Huesca, it has been confirmed.
The 22-year-old initially joined Los Rojiblancos in 2016 but has also enjoyed a loan stint at Boca Juniors.
He successfully deputised for Atleti’s regular shot-stopper Jan Oblak last season when the Slovenian was unavailable for Europa League fixtures.
“I’m happy and eager to start working with my new teammates,” Werner wrote on Twitter.
Huesca are in Spain’s top flight for the first time in their history and Werner becomes their fifth summer arrival following deals for Luisinho, Samuele Long, Eugeni and Jorge Miramon.
Atletico signed goalkeeper Antonio Adan from Real Betis to provide competition for Oblak ahead of the new season.
