West Ham approach for Sevilla’s Vazquez

West Ham United have made an official approach for Sevilla midfielder Franco Vazquez, according to reports in the Spanish press.

The 29-year-old joined Los Rojiblancos from Palermo in 2016 and has made 82 first-team appearances since, netting 13 goals.

Marca report Sevilla would be open to doing a deal in the region of €20m, despite the player’s release clause standing at €40m, with the player not featuring in new Coach Pablo Machin’s future plans.

Earlier this week, Tuttomercatoweb said the Hammers are eyeing a deal for the Argentine-born Italian with optimism that the Andalusian club are prepared to do business.

Vazquez – who previously spent a year in La Liga on loan at Rayo Vallecano – was signed by former sporting director Monchi under the instruction of then-Coach Jorge Sampaoli.
