Las Palmas sign Juan Cala

Las Palmas have completed the signing of experienced central defender Juan Cala, less than four months after he left Spanish football.

The 28-year-old joined Chinese Super League club Henan Jianye from Getafe at the beginning of March but he played just 11 times for the club.

Cala also enjoyed stints in Greece, Russia and England throughout his career but was a central part of Los Azulones strong defence last season – starting 20 La Liga outings.

The defender’s nomadic career began at Sevilla and has also included loan spells at Cartagena and Granada, before joining the Madrid-based club in the summer of 2016.

The former Spain Under-19 international is the eighth arrival of the summer at recently relegated Los Amarillos.
