Sevilla reject one-legged Supercopa

Sevilla have rejected plans for the Supercopa against Barcelona to be contested in a single match.

The RFEF had planned to halve the two-legged tie, given Sevilla must win three qualifiers to reach the Europa League group stage and Barca are scheduled to play their final preseason friendly against Milan on August 5 – the same day as the first leg.

However, the Andalusians tweeted: “To whomever it concerns, let it be clear: Sevilla Futbol Club has not altered its stance – the Spanish Supercup is a two-legged fixture as is set out in the calendar. That is how the Club desires it to be played. It has accepted no other proposal.”

Mundo Deportivo reports Barca had accepted the federation’s plans of a single match to be played on August 15 in the Moroccan city of Tangier in exchange for compensation.

The three parties are expected to meet again on Monday, where an agreement could be found.
