Betis ask for Madrid’s Llorente

Real Betis have made contact with Real Madrid over a possible summer transfer for midfielder Marcos Llorente, according to reports in Spain.

El Desmarque cite a report in El Mundo Deportivo that Betis vice president Lorenzo Serra Ferrer contacted his Madrid counterpart Jose Angel Sanchez directly regarding a deal.

The 23-year-old started only five La Liga matches for Los Blancos last season as he found opportunities limited under Zinedine Zidane.

However, the Frenchman has now been replaced by Julen Lopetegui in the Madrid dugout and Llorente may wish to evaluate his first team chances at the Bernabeu.

The central midfielder spent the 2016/17 season on loan at Alaves, making 38 appearances and helping the Basque club to the Copa del Rey final.
