Suarez: Special to face Ronaldo

Luis Suarez says it is ‘special’ to face Cristiano Ronaldo in the World Cup last 16 but warns he has ‘no better motivation’ to beat Portugal with Uruguay.

Suarez and Ronaldo will reignite their Clasico rivalry on Saturday, when Uruguay and Portugal lock horns for a place in the World Cup last 16.

“It’s special to face Cristiano,” the Barcelona striker said of his Real Madrid nemesis at a Press conference.

“Obviously the rivalry I have with Cristiano in Spain is different. This is a World Cup, the feeling I have for the jersey of my national team is different.

“We’ll be facing the European champions in the World Cup, There’s no better motivation than that.

“In order to win the World Cup, you have to beat any opponent without speculating anything.

“Pepe? He’s been at the highest point in football, but I’m not playing against just him. It’s 11 against 11.

“On an individual level, you can take a small degree of advantage, but to win a game like this one, you need to be compact.

“VAR? We’re committed to it. Above all, players are protesting less now. We have to be more conscious of the team.

“Cavani? The rivalry that exists between us is that we prioritise fighting for the Uruguay jersey and being at our best in a collective sense.

“We help each other in the best way for the team so we can all keep moving forward. We haven’t set any personal objectives.”
