Las Palmas to sign Ruben Castro

Las Palmas have reached an agreement to sign Real Betis striker Ruben Castro, 14 years after leaving the club, say reports in Spain.

The Gran Canarian side suffered relegation from the top flight last season but are keen to sign Castro in a €1m deal while Cordoba, Malaga and Deportivo La Coruna have also been linked.

Cadena Ser say Los Amarillos have offered the experienced striker a two-year contract with the option of an additional year, which would see Castro play until he is 40.

The forward, originally from Gran Canaria, has netted a club record total of 148 goals for Los Verdiblancos, whom he joined in 2010 but a raft of reports now suggest he will return to Los Amarillos.

Castro’s contract at Betis runs through until 2019 but they reportedly held a meeting with Bahia Internacional – who represent the player – this month in order to bring forward that date.
