Former Barcelona midfielder Javier Mascherano insists Argentina ‘have to swallow this poision’ after a disastrous start to their World Cup campaign.
La Albiceleste fell to a 3-0 defeat against Croatia on Thursday night to place them on the brink of elimination from the World Cup at the group stages.
“We have to swallow this poison,” Mascherano told Cadena Cope after the match.
“The match says it all, there is nothing to say.”
Argentina, who also drew 1-1 in the opening match against Iceland, now must defeat Nigeria on the final day of the group and hope results go their way elsewhere.
