Banega’s release clause at €20m

Sevilla midfielder Ever Banega, a reported transfer target for Arsenal, has an ‘affordable’ release clause of €20m.

Marca state the Gunners interest in the midfielder is genuine and triggering the release clause would not represent a problem and a decision to leave Los Rojiblancos would be up to the player.

ABC de Sevilla cites a report in La Gazzetta Dello Sport which claims the player’s agent Marcelo Simonian will travel to London this week to discuss a potential deal with Gunners.

Simonian reportedly has been preoccupied by finalising his client’s Javier Pastore’s move to Roma but now is shifting his attention towards Banega, who is currently at the World Cup.

The Argentine international joined the Seville-based club initially in 2014 under the behest of Unai Emery, now at the helm of Arsenal, who had managed him for three seasons at Los Che.

The 29-year-old became a key component across the following two campaigns at Sevilla, helping them to a further two European titles before departing for Inter in 2016 when Emery left for Paris Saint-Germain.

Banega returned to the Andalusian club last following an unsuccessful season in Italy.
