Villarreal are hopeful of signing Napoli central defender Raul Albiol in a deal worth around €6m, according to reports in Spain.
Diario AS states the former Valencia defender fits the profile of what the Yellow Submarine require – an experienced central defender who can adapt to Spain quickly.
Discussions have already taken place for the 32-year-old with the Europa League qualifiers hopeful of concluding a deal and triggering the defender’s €6m release clause.
Albiol, a former Spain international and also previously played for Real Madrid, is said to have received an offer from Chelsea but would prefer a return to Spain.
