Ruben Castro set for Las Palmas return

Real Betis striker Ruben Castro is on the verge of re-joining Las Palmas, 14 years after leaving the club, say reports in Spain.

The 36-year-old enjoyed a four-month loan stint at Guizhou Hengfeng Zhicheng where he scored seven times in 11 appearances, before returning to Spain in November.

Las Palmas suffered relegation from the top flight last season but are keen to sign Castro in a €1m deal while Cordoba, Malaga and Deportivo La Coruna have also been linked.

The forward, originally from Gran Canaria, has netted a club record total of 148 goals for Los Verdiblancos, whom he joined in 2010 but a raft of reports now suggest he will return to Los Amarillos.

Castro’s contract at Betis runs through until 2019 but they reportedly held a meeting with Bahia Internacional – who represent the player – this month in order to bring forward that date.
