Adan’s move to Sporting collapses

Real Betis goalkeeper Antonio Adan’s move to Sporting CP has broken down with the Portuguese club now on the verge of signing Sampdoria’s Emiliano Viviano.

Adan, 31, has been the first-choice at the Seville-based club since joining from Cagliari in 2014 but reports suggest a move to Portugal was ‘imminent’ and the shot-stopper had said his goodbyes.

The goalkeeper’s deal at Betis expires next summer and had reportedly agreed a €3m exit to Sporting but A Bola say they will now spend that amount on Viviano instead.

Betis are said to have agreed a deal for out-of-contract Espanyol goalkeeper Pau Lopez, who would become first-choice with Quique Setien’s side, who will compete in the Europa League next season while West Ham's Adrian has also been linked.

Long-serving Sporting goalkeeper and Portugal international Rui Patricio completed his move to Wolverhampton Wanderers on Monday.
