Capello: Madrid arrogant on Lopetegui

Former Real Madrid boss Fabio Capello has described his former club as ‘arrogant’ in their deal for former Spain Coach Julen Lopetegui.

Now 72, the Italian managed Madrid across two spells in his career and despite his reservations over the European champions, he does not believe Lopetegui should have been sacked by the Spanish FA.

“Real Madrid were arrogant to approach a Coach without speaking to the FA,” Capello said, as cited by Marca.

“We all know what Florentino Perez is like and how he conducts his business but that being said, the FA should not have sacked Julen.

“I think it was the wrong decision to get rid of him in the manner that they did, but of course I would like to support Fernando (Hierro) because he was one of my best ever players.”
