Griezmann, Hernandez sign new Atleti deals

Atletico Madrid have confirmed new contracts for Antoine Griezmann and Lucas Hernandez as they continue to build a squad ahead of next year.

The Madrid-based club released the news regarding the two France internationals alongside the signing of Monaco forward Thomas Lemar on Monday night.

Griezmann, 27, has extended his contract for one year until 2023 while 22-year-old Hernandez – whose brother Theo joined Real Madrid last summer – has extended his deal by two years to 2024.

It has not been confirmed if Griezmann – who last week confirmed he would stay at Atleti and reject the advances of Barcelona – has increased his €100m release clause, although it is suggested that it has been ‘significantly increased’.

Griezmann scored in France's 2-1 World Cup win over Australia, while Hernandez played 90 minutes and Lemar was on the bench.

Atleti have already signed Villarreal midfielder Rodri this summer while defender Jose Maria Gimenez has also agreed a new contract.
