Barcelona legend Xavi Hernandez believes Ousmane Dembele is capable of doing ‘the same things as Pele, Diego Maradona and Zinedine Zidane’.
A lack of form and fitness affected Dembele’s first season at Barca, who paid Borussia Dortmund an initial €105m for his services last summer, but Xavi is in no doubt about the winger’s ability.
“He came to the club with a lot of pressure, when he needed time to mature,” the Al Sadd midfielder told Journal Du Dimanche.
“Barca are a very demanding challenge for a young player but have potential. His humility and desire to work hard play in his favour.
“He does the same things as Di Stefano, Pele, Cruyff, Maradona or Zidane at a time when the game doesn’t give you as much time to think as before.”
