Depor appoint Gonzalez as Coach

Recently relegated Deportivo La Coruna have appointed Natxo González as their new Coach following his departure from Real Zaragoza.

The 51-year-old took the helm at Los Blanquillos last season but a promotion playoff semi-final defeat to Numancia was his last in charge.

Depor have now confirmed his appointment ahead of next season, where he will replace Clarence Seedorf on the bench at Estadio Riazor.

“For different reasons I will not be the Coach of Real Zaragoza next season,” González is cited as saying by Marca earlier this week.

“Despite being still under the psychology of the disappointment of the last game, I am proud of what we have done at this club.

“It was a great season for us in which we were the third best team in a difficult and tough division, but importantly we have built for the future.

“The project will continue with a consolidated base with lots of great players for the future.”

Zaragoza, recognised as one of Spain’s biggest clubs, are now set for their sixth successive season without top flight football.
