Valencia striker Zaza set for Serie A return

Valencia striker Simone Zaza looks set for a return to Serie A with club directors flying to Italy to conduct negotiations, according to reports.

The Italian striker has been linked with a summer exit from the Mestalla with the club aiming to raise €45m in sales to help replenish their squad this summer.

A report in Onda Deportiva claims Valencia directors Mateu Alemany and Pablo Longoria are in discussions with several Italian clubs including Sampdoria and Sassuolo.

The 26-year-old netted 13 goals with five assists in 39 competitive games for Los Che last season, but he is reported to be heading for the exit door at the Mestalla.

“I do not understand why I have to leave,” Zaza – who netted Italy’s goal in a 1-1 draw with the Netherlands in a recent friendly – told Onda Cero at the start of the month.

“You (journalists) are always speaking about my exit from Valencia, but I have always said that I want to stay. I get along with everyone and I live very happily here.

“I have not talked to the club about my future, they have not been in contact with me.”
