Celta Vigo are closing in on the signing of defender Nestor Araujo from Santos Laguna, according to the Mexican club’s president.
The 25-year-old has won 27 caps for his nation but is not part of the squad for this summer’s World Cup in Russia.
Earlier this week, Diario AS had reported negotiations between the clubs were ‘very advanced’ and now Santos Laguna president Alejandro Irarragori has confirmed these reports.
“It is very likely that Nestor Araujo will sign for Celta,” Irarragori told ESPN in Mexico.
“The operation is on track and we expect to be able to make an announcement soon.”
