Sevilla, Valencia vie for Coates

Sevilla and Valencia both hold an interest in signing Sporting CP central defender Sebastian Coates, say reports in the Spanish press.

ABC de Sevilla say Los Rojiblancos have identified the Uruguayan international – who is currently in Russia for the World Cup – as an ideal replacement should Clement Lenglet leave the club.

The 27-year-old is part of a Sporting squad who are in a state of crisis, with several players seeking to leave the club due to ongoing friction between them, the president and the club’s fans.

Portuguese outlet Record states the Andalusian club alongside Valencia are keen on the central defender, who formerly played for Liverpool and Sunderland in England.
