Lenglet ‘to decide’ on Barca or Sevilla

Sevilla defender Clement Lenglet has held formal talks over his future with the club and will make a decision by the end of the month, say reports.

The Frenchman is set to take a three-week holiday in which he will decide whether to remain at the club or join Barcelona, who are actively pursuing a deal, according to ABC.

The 22-year-old central defender has impressed for Los Rojiblancos in a turbulent season for the club, helping guide them to the Copa del Rey final and last eight of the Champions League.

Lenglet was the penultimate arrival at the Andalusian club under sporting director Monchi, signing from Ligue 1 outfit Nancy in January 2017.

His current deal at the club expires in June 2021 but his current minimum release clause stands at €35m – seen as an affordable price for many leading clubs who may be interested in his services.

Cadena Cope had reported an agreement to join the Catalan giants and will sign a five-year contract, but that appears to have been wide of the mark.

Barca central defender Samuel Umtiti recently penned a new long-term deal at the club, while Lenglet’s talks with new Sevilla Coach Pablo Machin took place on Wednesday.
