Fiorentina have activated their option to sign Real Betis defender German Pezzella on a permanent deal for an €11m transfer fee.
The Argentine enjoyed a season-long loan deal at La Viola, while he has now signed a four-year deal to take his stay in Italy through to the summer of 2022.
The Argentine international joined Los Verdiblancos from River Plate in 2015 for €2.5m but the club sanctioned his exit last year as they refreshed their squad.
Reports had suggested Atletico Madrid, Inter and Zenit Saint Petersburg all held a lingering interest in the central defender, but the Italian side have now tied down the deal.
Such funds will allow Betis – who signed Marc Bartra from Borussia Dortmund in January – to continue to reinvest in their squad this summer.
