‘Disappointed’ Bale to decide future

Gareth Bale admits he is ‘disappointed’ with his situation at Real Madrid, despite his Champions League heroics, and will hold talks about his future.

Bale’s ‘chilena’ helped Madrid win their third straight Champions League on Saturday and was widely billed as the greatest goal ever seen in a European Final.

However, the Welshman started in Kiev as a substitute and has seen his place at the Santiago Bernabeu threatened by the possible arrival of former Barcelona star Neymar.

“Obviously I was very disappointed not to start the game,” he said after the 3-1 victory over Liverpool.

“I felt I deserved to, but the Coach makes the decisions. Obviously I need to play every weekend, something that hasn’t happened this season.

“I was injured for five weeks and I haven’t had much consistency. Obviously I have to sit down with my agent and talk things through.

“The important thing was to enter the field and make an impact, but football is a game of more than 11 players.

“We know we’ve achieved something very important. We didn’t have the best League campaign, but we won the Champions League. We arrived for it very motivated and prepared.

“My overhead kick? It has to be the best goal in a Champions League Final, there isn’t a bigger stage. I’m happy to have won it.

“We know what we’ve achieved and how good we’ve been. The League was disappointing, but we won the Champions League. It turned out to be a great season.

“Critics? We let everyone else do the talking. We know how hungry we are in the dressing room and how prepared and motivated we are.”
