Casillas renews at Porto

Former Real Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas has announced he has signed a new contract with Porto.

The 36-year-old, who made over 500 league appearances at the Santiago Bernabeu, was expected to depart the Portuguese giants at the end of the season after announcing he would be leaving.

However, it now appears he has had a change of heart and has renewed his contract for another year with Porto.

“Today is a very happy day for me!! I will continue for another year together with all of the ‘Portistas’.

“Without doubt, this is the perfect finish to a wonderful season. Thanks for all the support,” he said on Twitter when he announced the news himself.

Casillas joined Porto from Madrid in July 2015, amid claims he had been forced out of his lifelong club, and has since gone on to make 114 appearances in all competitions for the ‘Dragoes’.
