Iniesta “nervous” for final Barca game

Andres Iniesta has confessed he will be nervous when he plays his final game for Barcelona against Real Sociedad on Sunday night.

The Barca captain is bringing down the curtain on a long and illustrious career at the Camp Nou this weekend, and in an interview with RAC1 he told of the feelings he will have when he makes his final bow.

“I’m nervous about Sunday, as I’ve already been telling some people,” admitted the 34-year-old.

“When they tell you the end is coming you get used to the idea, but when the moment approaches I’ll be nervous and my feelings will be even more raw.

“I’m a person who thinks about things a lot, meditates upon them, evaluates them, then listens to myself – so it’s been like a process.

“It’s true that last year was not an easy one and this year I didn’t know if it would be the last or not. When the season began I doubted whether I would continue.

“So, I proposed that this year would have to be one of the best because if it was the last I wanted to go with the feelings I have now.”

Iniesta explained how he told of his decision to leave the Blaugrana.

“I don’t know who the first person I told was, whether it was a player like Leo, Busi, Jordi, Ivan, Luis, Gerard…

“The Coach also knew before the President, or a few days before at least. I was looking for the right moment and I wanted it to be natural.”
