Eduardo Berizzo could be named as new Athletic Bilbao boss within the next few days, according to reports in Chile.
Days after Bilbao President Josu Urrutia announced that Jose Angel Ziganda would not continue next season, it now appears the way has been cleared for the appointment of Berizzo.
NBC Sports reports that Berizzo, who already has experience in Spain with Celta Vigo and Sevilla, will sign a one-year contract with the Basques shortly.
However, the information comes after a resounding denial by the club that a meeting had been held with Berizzo before Ziganda’s departure was officially announced.
