Antunes: Atleti game a ‘final’

Getafe full-back Vitorino Antunes has described this Saturday’s game against Atletico Madrid as a ‘final’ for his club.

El Geta are currently pushing for a Europa League place alongside Sevilla and Girona and know that seventh spot will get them into the qualifiers for next term’s competition.

“Europe is very important for everyone because at the start of the season nobody thought we would be fighting for this so close to the end,” the Portuguese told assembled media.

“This is our final and we are going to give everything we can, which we’ve done from the start, and we’ll try to improve so we can continue dreaming. We want to win both matches left so we can maintain our position.”

Atletico visit the Coliseum Alfonso Perez just four days before taking on Marseille in the Europa League Final in Lyon, but Antunes is not expecting them to take it easy.

“It will be a strong Atleti that come here and we know they have a very strong squad. They are coming off a home defeat and I don’t think they’ll want to lose a second game in a row.

“What I’m hoping for is a strong Getafe that will fight to the death and achieve our aim of victory,” he concluded.
