‘Neymar very important for Madrid’

Legendary German international Paul Breitner is certain Neymar will become a Real Madrid player before the start of next season.

The 66-year-old – who spent three years at the Santiago Bernabeu during the 1970’s after joining from Bayern Munich -was conducting an interview with German channel Sport 1 regarding Robert Lewandowski when he commented on the Paris Saint-German star.

“Neymar will be very important next year at Real Madrid,” said Breitner, who was a UEFA ambassador at the 2012 Champions League final in Munich.

Breitner’s remarks are consistent with the new that has been appearing in the French media about the Brazilian, who is understood to be the express wish of Madrid President Florentino Perez, who wanted to bring him to the Spanish capital before he eventually plumped for Barcelona in summer 2013.

Meanwhile, Breitner appears to have taken it for granted that Perez will get his wish before the start of the 2018-19 campaign.
